Amazon is the flavour of the day

Did this one a while ago for a job application, which I unfortunately didn't get. Looking back now it's not hard to see why: 'dynamic poses' are really poor, final pose is so fundamentally borked that I gave up on trying to fix it, and end result is thoroughly 'meh'. The only way to fix this properly would be to start from scratch, but I did my best to salvage what was there. I do however like quite a few of my thumbnails, which is what I had the most fun with anyway, and the design isn't half bad (I think).
In case it isn't clear, I wanted to steer clear of the typical 'barely clad chick with bow (and optional amputated boob)' trope. I'm just a bit sad that I took in slightly too much external input, as there are a few ideas in those thumbs that I would have loved to keep; designing by committee doesn't work, who'da thunk?

Disclaimer: that line drawing is a trace, my line quality isn't quite that bad. On a side note, I like using this tiny font, it amuses me.

D’awww, ain’t she cute? No idea why I painted it, but it may have been caused by this. Lessons learned from this: if you are stupid enough to model parts of a painting in 3D, then don’t completely change the design for your model every hour or so.

Also, boobs are still a complete pain in the arse to paint and I should probably stop painting purple–skinned women.

Also also, smoky swirlies consist of mangled official graphic so © Arc System Works?

Got about 10 pages into Maughan's Drawing the head and wanted to give it a go.

Something I started last summer and perpetually forgot was still lurking on my hard drive. Here's the money shot, some kind of water–magic–based creature.

Thumbnails, showing a clear evolution from crappy to acceptable to running out of ideas. Quite like a few of these.

And the state it was in after about a day's work.

A few pen studies I did recently. Good stuff, these really brought out a few of my weaknesses.

Result of an IRC thunderdome. First one is the result after one hour, second received a bit more spit and polish.

One not terribly impressive photo study and the coloured pencil/pastel/charcoal drawing that led to it.

Some early environment doodles for this endearing little project. These are between 20 minutes and several hours (AKA way too long).
